English site ready, French coming soon
Posted on 29 October 2009 4 commentsWe would like to announce that the English website is up and running… there are still a couple of small bugs but it is fully usable and graphically tested under Firefox, Opera, Chrome and IE.
Within a few days we will have also the French site.
International pre-orders are, of course, accepted.
Cheers!

Blog under maintenance
Posted on 1 October 2009 No commentsHey geeks,
We don’t really know what has been happening with our blog as the admin site has been unavailable to us for a couple of weeks and we have been unable to post anything nor approve any comment… hopefully the great guys over MediaTemple fixed the issue which was a missing SQL table after a Wordpress Upgrade.
We will try to get published the missing comments as soon as possible.
In the meantime and while we try to get this working 100% again, please use our forum (forum.geeksphone.com) for direct communication with us!
Thank you again

GPS in the ONE
Posted on 10 September 2009 12 commentsToday we were asked an interesting question at the forums…
It seems that there has been some misunderstanding with the specs regarding GPS.
Where it says “A-GPS” it means that it has Assisted GPS which combines traditional satellite triangulation (SirfStar 3 SE chipset) and wireless networks triangulation (less precise but faster).
Just wanted to clarify it to all,
Regards

Feeling Optimistic!!
Posted on 3 September 2009 13 commentsHello to all of you!!
We have detected some concern among the spanish followers of our blog and as we feel very close to them, we would like to clarify some points.
This blog has been created in order to report on our company’s development and to present our new products. In our task we have, naturally, to face difficulties and setbacks but we are guided by enthousiasm and we intend to overcome every obstacle. This blog is not just a way to promote our products. It is also a tool which may help you to understand, to participate and to help us in the growth of our company throuhg your own comments and suggestions. All the information published about the “ONE” project is therefore much more than a mere sales promotion.
It’s not an easy task to manage a cutting-edge company dedicated to create revolutionary products. For the industry key-players it normally takes from 6 to 8 months since the announcement of a new product until its introduction into the market. We are doing our best to keep pace with them and all our efforts go in that direction.
We also would like to underline that being a young and innovative company, our break-even is extremely low in comparison with the main manufacturers (low break-even=low prices). This is a huge market and there is room for everyone. We firmly believe in the success of our company and you are most welcome to contribute to our growth and improvent thanks to your ideas.
The European mobile phone market is enormous. Just in Spain and according to the CMT (NationalTelecommunications Stock Market) 24 to 25 million mobile handsets are sold every year of which 12% to 14% are Smartphones (approximately 12% of Smartphones are sold free of any commitment contract with mobile network operators). In such a dynamic market and despite the economic woes, competition is very positive. That’s why we would be very happy to see many Android OS handsets to come up into the market. That would confirm our potential and the fact that we are going in the right direction.
Eventhough we must say that we firmly believe in your loyalty!!
And finally, we will be announcing important news the following days. Our community forum is already in its testing phase and it will be operational very soon.
Cheers Geeks!!!
Rodrigo Silva-Ramos. (CEO)

Back to work!
Posted on 1 September 2009 12 commentsDear Geeks,
Despite the blog has been quite unattended during the past two months, it’s a pleasure for us to see that, day after day, the amount of comments from our followers has been increasing notably.
We have quite a lot of things to cover during the following days, as a lot of them have happened during the past weeks. Geeks’Phone “core” team in Spain has welcome new executive members, our funding is more solid than ever, and we have an R&D department in Spain working full-time with Spanish engineers. Not to mention, off course, that the “ONE” is closer than ever.
In spite of the good news, we must say that not everything has worked out as planned, specially regarding the relationship between our Asian suppliers and the team designated by Google Europe HQ. Not a big problem, though, which has been worked around without hassles.
Anyway, we keep growing and improving ourselves thanks to your help. We shall not forget that establishing and managing a company such as Geeks’Phone is something to be proud of. We are making history with every step we take, as we have managed to create a company that, being based in Europe and started-up with a fully independent/private seed capital, will be able to compete soon with the industry-keyplayers worldwide.
As a conclusion, we all hope that you have a nice return to work after summer holidays. We will keep you updated through the blog these days, and we will be delivering at least 4-5 posts per week to catch up. We are also setting up a forum/BB community for you which will be available within the next few days.
Cheers!Javier A. (COO & PR)
