Three, two, one… ZERO
Posted on 18 March 2011 10 commentsCowntdown for the entry of the ZERO in our lifes! We are entering the final stageof production. Rodrigo will be in China, checking the quality control in the final stage of the factory. This final stage of the production will start the last week of March. Bear in mind that unexpected problems may occur, thought they are not likely being in the final stage, but Geeksphone has no control over it. This is the main reason for not giving fixed (or even estimated) dates with much advance.
If everything goes as it should, the booking period will be open the last week of March. It is intended for the ZEROS to enter at Madrid-Barajas at 6-8 of april, and short fater, they will be shipped to the first reservations made and for all the orders made.
For now, we are being tempted with this images of the ZERO…

Geeksphone ONE with android Gingerbread 2.3.3
Posted on 17 March 2011 No commentsWith a couple of days of delay, but I have a horrible week. Let’s go to what it matters:
Thanks to the superb work of Super@tmel, we can use and enjoy in our ONEs the last version of android, Gingerbread 2.3.3, with the ROM SuperAosp. The feedback of the users who have already tested, gives a very good impression of the ROM. As it is explained in the forum post, the ROM is completly build from the source code of google AOSP (Android Open Source Project), with minor use of a little part of Cyanogen’s framework.
To see more details of the rom, and to download it, just go to the forum post: http://forum.geeksphone.com/index.php?topic=1606.0
Here I leave you with two screenshots that Super@tmel posted:

In addition to the Super@tmel rom, the Geeksphone ONE is also officially suported by the CyanogenMod Team, thanks to (up to my knowledge), the work of Rmcc in the Geeksphone forum
. The current versión of the CyanogenMod Rom is CM 7.0, and it is avaiable as a Release Candidate RC2. CM 7.0 is also Gingerbread 2.3.3

One more thing….

2010 Endings
Posted on 8 December 2010 7 commentsHello, friends,
Geeksphone is preparing its new range.
We’ve spent months of hard work on these new products, and the hardest part is obviously the fact that we have to rely on a huge supply chain that we cannot control as much as we’d like, due to our short (but intense) way.
We are proud to tell you all today about these new products, and we will give you insights on the design process soon.As you may already know, Geeksphone is preparing three new devices.
The favourite child, the true reference of the next range, will be the TWO. Our ambition for the TWO is to make a phone that will be one of the best, if not the best device on the market today, while upholding the values you all know and expect from a Geeksphone product.
As you’d expect, the birth of the TWO is costly and time-consuming, and we’re going to have to postpone it.
We wanted to present the TWO for the end of 2010, and that won’t be possible. Our new horizon is the year 2011.
We promise you that as soon as we have solid information about dates and other data, we will let you know, in order to let you help us refine the TWO.
As for the other new devices, we will have some jaw-dropping news really soon, before the end of the year.
Finally, we’ll be announcing something by the end of the week that should really whet your appetite, in order to wish you a very merry Christmas.
As we were saying last year, we now your patience is not infinite, but the trust that was built in this community has made all of us understand that faithfulness is always rewarded.
This community we’ve built together is Geeksphone’s greatest pride, luck, and asset.
For this, thanks to you, and may the year 2011 bring us all much smiles and joy.
Rodrigo….

Geeksphone One in red
Posted on 9 April 2010 6 commentsHi to everyone! I’m sorry for not posting during eastern hollidays, but I needed some vacations
We are welcome with great news! Geeksphone has reached an agreement with Pepephone, a spanish virtual mobile operator. This agreement consist in a special prices for those users that have a Geeksphone One and belong to Pepephone, or that will por to this operator.
The special price is a data price of 7€ per month, up to a traffic of 300 MB per month. The three first months are free. The data tarification is not done in blocks (it’s done by Kb), if you use this 300Mb, the following 100Mb (and so on) will cost 3€ (0,03€ each extra MB).
The voice price for this offer is for calls at any time and at any spanish phone (fixed or mobile), at 0,05€/minute + 0,15€ the establishment of the call. You can keep this voice price even if after the three first months of free data you don’t want the data connection. This offer is only for contract fares, not for pre-paid sims. However, this contract have no minimum fee nor permanence contract
Yo can see this forum post and this other for more information, or take a look to the web of Pepephone. If you don’t have a One (yet), you can buy one in the shop of geeksphone, or in pepephone web.
Greetings to all!

New contributor to the blog!
Posted on 26 March 2010 4 commentsHi everybody! This is my first post in Geeksphone official blog. First of all, I would like to introduce myself, in an unofficial way. My name is Aitor, and I am a user of a Geeksphone One since late January. I participate in the forum with the user AitorTheRed (I am red-haired). I studied Telecommunication Engineering, and I have always been fascinated by technology and gadgets. Geeksphone One is my first Android phone, although I had already mess a bit with the Android SDK.
Once finished with the presentations, we continue with the post. The idea is to write one or two weekly post about news of the android world, and the company’s own news. The first of this news, as all those who navigate the forum knows, is about the online shop. The shop has been update recently, improving the usability and the interface. We have been told that soon there will be different accesories on sale, such as the replacement bateries that a lot of users have been asking for. They are also working hard to support the spanish language in the shop (some problems with the multi-lingual patch), so that Spanish users can use the shop in their own language. What do you think of it? Do you like it? You can leave your impressions in the comments or in the forum in this thread.
Greetings and see you in the next post!

Money !!!!
Posted on 15 January 2010 44 commentsI just wanted to share some thoughts and feelings with all of you.
Geeks’Phone is a young company, we started to work on our initial project less than a year ago and the company was established just some months ago.We have to admit that since everything started we have made different types of management errors derived from our lack of experience but also due to our innovative business philosophy and to the small size of the company.
I’d like to say that we have done our way with many difficulties and some times we’ve had the feeling that we would not be able to culminate our project. We’ve had important problems and many complications that from our financial and geographical position were almost impossible to face. Everything looked like an uthopy!
Nevertheless I would also like to mention that from the moment we launched the company, in June 2009; we’ve generated huge expectations, worldwide, with peaks up to 16.000 daily visits in our website.
We have been contacted by companies in the 5 continents, among them: Australian network operators, communication key-players in Silicon Valley, Indian wholesalers, a top Hong Kong Stock Exchange company which beg us to become our partners and exclusive agents in South East Asia, traders from Senegal, Telecom operators from the Gulf countries and the Middle East, a leading operator from Tunis, an investment company in Argentina, wholesalers all over Europe some of them top key-players in the international telecom market and, not the less important, a 13 year old geek blogger enthusiastic about Geeks’Phone.
And, of course, we need to mention all the interest we have awakened in Spain and the help and support that we have received, starting with Google’s Spain team, and the entire blogger community related to technology and Android.
All this people, some of whom I’m forgetting, has given us the strength and motivation to carry on with our project.
At present, Geeks’Phone executive team is formed by 4 senior associates, 4 more executive partners and 10 to 12 external but very close collaborators. No one, among the team members, is getting any financial retribution for his work or any other advantage. But there is no complain as Geeks’Phone has been very generous with us in Xmas. and we have been given a top quality Spanish “Jamón de Jabugo”.
But please don’t feel bad for us. We do not get any money but we are lucky enough to have all we need at home and some savings that make it possible to keep on going. This is our idea about genuine “entrepreuneurship”.
All Geeks’Phone team members are important, essential I should say, even if you are familiar only with Javier Agüera and with myself. The remaining members do not often appear in our forum but their work is fundamental.
Geeks’Phone was founded by Javier and by myself. We met each other a year ago through a Texas/Usa Company and by sheer chance we happened to live 100 metres away from each other.
All the funds needed to start Geeks’Phone are private and under absolute control of its partners. We will not give any figure but the initial investment represents the value of a medium range home. We considered the idea of asking support to a bank or a financial company but we weren’t successful.
Thanks to our first product, the Geeks’Phone “ONE”, and just one month after we started our online sales, we have attained the break-even and our investment is now returned. According to the current demand and prospects we will start to get profits within the next few weeks. Taking into consideration that we are a new born company we are quite proud of it.
We want to make it very clear that 100% of our initial profits will be reinvested (excepting Xmas. “Jamón de Jabugo’s” cost) pincipally in R&D related to the creation of our future products and to its design which will continue to be essential within our brand concept.
We knew, from the beginning, that we wouldn’t make money with the “ONE” and such where our prospects. But thanks to the “ONE” we have been able to start our business and to exist.
We hope it will be the elder brother in a family that will keep growing during the following months and we will direct all our efforts to ensure our freedom and independance regarding the existing structures in the communication global market.
Finally, the 1st Geeks’Phone batch (your phones), is now on its way to Madrid. They are well treated as they are travelling by air and we expect their arrival to Madrid-Barajas Airport next Sunday or Monday. The whole team is now ready, including our customs agent and logistics team, in order to ensure rapid deliveries.
Let’s hope that everything goes as announced as we have recently had some problems that made us, all, suffer. We feel very grateful for your patience and we are well aware that it has its limits.
So next week, with a 15 days delay in our schedule, comes the moment of truth and you’ll have your new “ONE” in your hands. We hope that, at that moment, you will be proud to have participated in this marvellous adventure.
Have plenty of fun with your “ONE”!
Many thanks from Geeks’Phone team……

Rodrigo Silva-Ramos
